Use the order of operations.

My students at Carr Elementary School in Santa Ana came up with this way of remembering the order of operations

" If you get hurt in PE call a doctor MD as soon as possible Asap"

Start with P parenthesis and E exponents

# 4 -3 {7 -(2 xx 3) }= 4 - 3 ( 7 -6)# continue with removing ( )

# 4-3( 7-6) = 4- 3( 1) # next call a doctor MD a doctor is one person so do multiplication and division as the same time working from left to right

# 4 - 3(1) = 4 -3 #

Next do ASap Addition and subtraction at the same time because as soon as possible is the same time working from left to right
