Explanation:

An atom can have multiple isotopes, therefore have multiple masses. An isotope is an atom with the same amount of protones (therefore it is still the same atom), but a variable amount of neutrons.

All those masses combined, divided by the amount of isotopes there are, is the relative mass of an atom.
