The two things affect the resistance are length of the wire and the area of cross section of the wire .

If we increase the length of the wire the resistance increases .

So that #R=(k*l)/A# where k proportionality constant which is called as resistivity ( #rho# ) which depends on the nature of the material of the wire.

So we can summarize the equation as #R=(rho*l)/A#

Hence resistance of the wire is affect by the length of the wire and the area of cross section of the wire
