Explanation:
The Temperance Movement firstly saw alcohol as the cause of poverty because men spent their money in the bars.
Secondly it led to the break up of the family structure because of this as relationships broke down because of violence and inability to pay bills.
Thirdly alcohol was seen as a major health issue related to a wide range of diseases and premature death.
Fourthly there was a significant religious factor and abolitionists saw it as an evil in the context of the Bible.
