In this election, no one got the required votes to become president. 4 people ran and it seemed either 2 of the 4 were to win. John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. The other 2 candidates, William Crawford and Henry Clay, knew they weren't going to win. It was settled in Congress. If and when an election happens and no one gets the required electoral votes, Congress votes for the next president. So this happened and the Quincy Adams-friendly congress chose Adams. Andrew Jackson thought this was unfair and his supporters called it the Corrupt Bargain.
