How do you evaluate (\frac{-3}{2})^{2}+3(\frac{-3}{2})+2?

Let's first deal with the indices and brackets.

(-3/2)^2 = 9/4

3(-3/2) = -9/2

Now the problem looks like this:

9/4 -9/2 +2

Make the fractions have a common denominator of 4 and then work it out

8/4 = 2

9/4 - 18/4 + 8/4 -> (9-18+8)/4

=-1/4
