Cell membrane keeps inner environment of the cell constant.

Explanation:

The cell membrane passes respiratory gases through diffusion. The size of respiratory gases is too small which is not hindrance to gas exchange.
Osmosis on the other hand is the movement of solute and salts. This takes place against concentration gradient. In the membrane certain ions like sodium, potassium, chlorine move through membrane pores and water molecules pass along with ions.
It is the cell membrane which makes inner environment of cell homeostatic.
