If you are using PEMDAS, BIDMAS or BODMAS, then division and multiplication have the same priority and are evaluated from left to right, after you have evaluated the contents of the parentheses...

#9 -: 6 * (3-7) = 9 -: 6 * (-4) = 3/2 * (-4) = -6#

Note that historically, the obelus #-:# was used to indicate that you wanted to divide everything on the left by everything on the right. If you were using that convention, then you would have:

#9 -: 6 * (3-7) = 9/(6 * (3 - 7)) = 9/(6 * (-4)) = 9/(-24) = -3/8#
