Brigham Young.

Explanation:

After facing religious persecution (many disliked the Mormons for their beliefs e.g Polygamy) so Brigham Young led them west. He was a very smart and dedicated leader, making critical decisions for his journey west. Along the way, he set up camps for other Mormon groups as they went in separate groups for a much easier journey. He assigned each group leaders as well. He was probably one of the most successful groups to journey west.
