Explanation:

Inter-molecular forces, forces that attract atoms together are usually strong. This is seen in ionic compounds (salt, etc...) where they have extremely high melting and boiling points. Intra-molecular forces, which are forces between the atoms in the molecule not the connecting molecules can be weak. They are usually weak in simple covalent compounds which gives them very low melting and boiling points.
