Explanation:
A synapse is a junction between two nerves.
Information is sent along nerves as electrical impulses, these travel quicker than chemical information, where a nerve ends and another begins is a synapse, here the information is transferred across as a chemical, which is picked up on the receiving nerve's receptors, where it is 'converted' back into an electrical impulse to travel again along the nerve to its desired target.
