first factor out the equations with the #x^2# in the first bottom equation, you'll get: #(x-5)(x+2)# the second equation: #(x+4)(x-3)# you can see that in both equations, two factor cancel each other out. so once it does, you're left with nothing on top so you have to put a one on top
