Why some impurities are used with semi conductors in the solar panel?

Semi- conductor : is a material that can conduct electricity under certain conditions. For example when it is exposed to heat or light...etc. Adding impurities in a semi conductor is a chemical method and it is called Doping.

A neutral semi conductor do not conduct electricity, thus it is useless.

Impurities = Positive and Negative charges

If Positive and Negative charges are added to a semi- conductor + Voltage = current will appear and this means we can get electrical energy.

In case of Solar Panels, light is the energy that activates the charges in the semi- conductor, so basically it is a source of Voltage.
