Why are most fossils found in sedimentary rocks?

Sedimentary rocks are formed when small sediments of different size get compressed under great pressure and heat .Now million years ago probably remains of prehistoric animals may have compressed along sediments and might have fossilized .So most fossils are found in sedimentary rocks
