Glucose transport through cell membrane takes place by GLUT transporters.This is an example of facilitated diffusion requires aid of transmembrane protein, not in simple diffusion.

Explanation:

Glucose enters the erythrocyte by facilitated diffusion with the help of GLUT transporter, at a rate about50,000 times greater than uncatalyzed transmembrane diffusion. GLUT transporter ,an integral protein having 12 transmembrane hydrophobic domains made of the alpha helix only.
