What are the types of network topologies?

There are several: Star; Bus; Mesh; and Ring. Those are the main ones but only Star and Mesh are used really.

Explanation:

Star networks have one main server and all the other devices are connected to them.
In a mesh network all devices are connected to all other networks. You can also get a partial mesh in which some devices are connected to other devices but not all. Mesh networks are faster becasue packets can take alternative routes and it means that if connection is broken then the data can still get through.
