Let's rewrite the function

#sqrt(x^2-1)/sqrt(x^2+1)=sqrt(x^2(1-1/x^2))/sqrt(x^2(1+1/x^2))#

#=(cancelxsqrt(1-1/x^2))/(cancelxsqrt(1+1/x^2))#
