A free falling object having some kinetic energy hits the ground and comes to rest,now where its kinetic energy has gone?

All of the kinetic energy has gone into the ground.

Explanation:

At the time the object has come to rest no more energy is being exerted unto the object thus the energy has to have hone somewhere. According to the first law of thermodynamics "Energy cannot be created nor destroyed" so if the only thing the object has hit was the ground, all of that energy has gone into the ground.
