Kinetic energy associated with electrons (imaginary). In elctronics batteries energy is stored in a form like potential energy like a mass at height from earth. If there is electrons travels in non resistive path then it gains kinetic energy like the mass that falls freely. Because of resiatance the kinetic energy of electrons changes due to collision with other atoms . This collisons decrease the kinetic energy thereby maintaining constant drift velocity and current in he circuit. The energy that is wasted due to collisions is released in form of heat.
