move the #-3# to the other side of the #=# sign to make #71 + 3#
so, #2x + 6x = 71 + 3#
so, #8x = 74#
now move the 8 to be divided in to 74 in other words, #74/8 (=9.25)#

Therefore, #X = 9.25#
