The more you learn the better you are at surviving, thus reproduce and the teach the offspring these behaviours so that they survive and continue the cycle.

Inherited behaviours are limited. With learned behaviours, the parent or group are able to teach the young how to hunt, migrate, etc efficiently. Thus they survive, reproduce, and the cycle continues. Therefore those with learned behaviours are 'selected for'.
