Therefore, #"5 laps = 5*62.8 "ft" = 314 "ft"#

Having noticed that the answer is 100 times #pi#, I now see that I could have done this without my calculator:

#"one circumference" = 2*pi*r = 2*pi*10 "ft"#

Therefore,

#"5 laps = 5*2*pi*10 "ft" = 100*pi "ft" = 314 "ft"#
