How do you find the x and y intercept of 5x + y = −8?

x-intercept = -8/5
y-intercept = -8

Explanation:

Basically when either the x or the y is intercepted, one of them have to equal to zero. For example, when the line crosses the y-axis, x has to equal to zero. Knowing this, we can just simply substitute 0 as x or y and obtain the values

5x + (0) = -8 therefore 5x=-8, x=-8/5

(0)+y=-8 therefore y=-8
