if a positive the shape of sketch will be `uuu`
but if a negative the shape will be `nnn`

now lets sketch `y=-12x^2+24x`

lets find the vertex

`x_v=-b/(2a)=-24/-24=1`

`y_v=-12+24=12`

`"The vertex"=(1,12)`

find other points:

`f(-1)=-36`
