Molarity is a comparison of the moles of solute dissolved in a given volume of solution.

This equation is #Molarity = (mol of solute)/ (Liters of Solution)#

If we want to find how many grams of #KCl# are necessary to make a solution that is 0.150 M and contains 125 mL, we would solve using the equation

First we must find the moles of KCl in solution.

#M = (mol)/ L#

M = 0.150 M
mol = ???
L = 125 mL or 0.125 L

#M L = mol#

#0.150M (0.125 L) = x mol#

mol = 0.0188 moles of KCl

Now we can convert moles to grams

#0.0188 mol KCl x (74.55 g KCl) / (1 mol)#

= 1.39 grams of KCl

I hope this was helpful.
