Lordosis refers to the excessive curvature or inward arch of the spine.

Explanation:

Lumbar lordosis is the normal inward lordotic curvature of the lumbar and cervical regions of the human spine.

Lordotic curvatures, also known as secondary curvatures, results in a difference of thickness between the front and back parts of the intervertebral discs. Lordosis may increase at puberty, sometimes not becoming evident until the early or mid 20's.

Certain factors that can increase the risk of lordosis include spondylolistheses, Achondroplasia, Osteoporosis, Osteosarcoma and obesity.
