What benefits do we have for answering questions on Socratic?

The only two benefits you should aim for are using your knowledge to help others understand and learn new concepts, and furthering your own understanding and skills.

As far as material rewards or prizes go, you can expect no such thing from anybody here on Socratic. We are all contributing to help others learn and seek no other acknowledgement or reward.

Helping others learn and improve, including oneself, is the name of the game.

You do get a nice warm feeling, and it's better than involuntary urine release, which is the other method I know works.

Explanation:

Learning is fun, and we learn most through teaching others. Thus humanity progresses (slowly.)

Nothing. You get nothing for answering a question. If you give a answer, you get this nice feeling in your heart. It makes the rest of your day better, knowing you helped someone out today.

As Stefan V already said, you will not win any prizes for answering questions. Remember, nobody is forcing you to answer the question, but know, you answering that question will make one person on earth smarter than they were before! Together, we can become smarter, one person at a time. ;)
