You can add links manually.

Explanation:

The Graph, Link, and Math Utilities are all experiencing a major bug, of the same nature you're describing here.

To add links without using the link interface, you can use the format

"[word that you want to use as hyperlink] (link)"

without the quote marks and the space between ] and (.

So, for example, if you want to add a link to an answer that redirects to the Nucleic acids topic page on Socratic.

You can write [nucleic acids], followed by (http://socratic.org/biology/molecular-biology-basics/nucleic-acids), the link to the Nucleic acids page.

You would get something like nucleic acids.

The format of the link function is - you don't have to write it between hashtags, I just wrote it like for better emphasis

#"[word that you want hyperlinked]"("link")"#

And you can do that for any word or for any link. For example, you can link to Socratic by using [Socratic], followed by (http://socratic.org/), to get Socratic.
