This kind of mirror has the ""bulge" outwards and this cofiguration allows the collection of a lot of light (from many directions) that can be directed more efficiently into your eye. Considering that each "ray" of light carries information, then, this mirror collect more information than, say, a flat mirror and allows you to "see" more volume of your room. You pay this by the heavy deformation introduced in the (virtual) image you detect.
