A proper understanding of the characteristics such as central tendency, dispersion etc are necessary for the analysis of data. Descriptive statistics is meant for that analysis.


Statistical methods are employed in analysing the various characteristics of qualitative and quantitative phenomena. These characteristics are Central Tendency, Dispersion, Skewness & Kurtosis, correlation & regression and association of attributes.
Descriptive statistics are used to highlight these characteristics in the samples in order to assess these characteristics in the population.
