If there was no star called Sun we will not be here.

All the elements in our body came from stars.
When universe began there were only hydrogen and helium only. All other elements were cooked up in stars or produced during supernova explosions.
Sun light is essential for photo synthesis with out which food will not be produced.
Ancient Egyptians were knowing these things about importance of Sun
and so they worshiped sun.
