Barbarians

Explanation:

They were called Barbarians by the Romans. Not that they were "barbaric" but it was a generic name the Romans called anyone that hailed from outside the empire.

The Mongols never reached western Europe and never were in contact with the Romans (also the Roman Empire was gone by the time the Mongols were a presence in the 13th century)
