I don't think so.

Explanation:

As far as I know, you cannot merge two or more profiles into a single profile.

You can, however, make sure that this is not something you'll ever need to worry about.

Here's my take on these interesting scenarios you listed here.

  • Forgetting your password

As you know, the site offers protection such cases. If you forget your password, you can simply click on Forgot your password?

and enter your email address. You will receive an email from Socratic that will include instructions on how to reset your password.

As you would imagine, you must enter the email address that you used when you created your Socratic account.

If you don't remember the password to your email account, well, I guess that's that.

  • Accidentally making two accounts

This seems to me something that a newcomer would do. A regular contributor would recognize the fact that he is in the process of making a new account even before getting to posting answers.

Moreover, accounts can always be deleted, so if a regular contributor finds himself using a new account, he can always switch back to his old account and request that the new account be deleted.

All in all, I don't see how merging two accounts can be important to a newcomer, assuming of course that no major contributions were made with the two accounts.

And even if there were, these contributions would not be affected in any way by the fact that they were made by the same person using multiple accounts.

In fact, a newcomer can choose between the two accounts and start using one. Or maybe use them both in parallel, which is always an option.

  • Having two accounts

This implies that you wanted to use two (or more) accounts at the same time for a given period of time. I can see why you'd want to merge these accounts, but at the same time your contributions will carry the same value regardless if the profiles are merged or not.

One account or five accounts, your focus should be on providing quality answers.

One classic example would be Ernest's two accounts. Ernest started contributing on Socratic using this account, but had to switch to a different account. You can ask him more about why that happened if you want.

Long story short, profile merging is not really an option on Socratic.
