Using the the 1970 film "The Battle of Waterloo" as a reference. Write an Essay on the following: Each man fought as if he were of his Nation? (I can't reconstruct this Question but it exists in a museum in Waterloo in the same exact wording) What follows is not a great answer.

Sort of. In the Film a messenger rides by the British calling in French. A great deal of the Anglo/Belgian army was till recently French.

Explanation:

Belgium did not exist before 1815. It was created by the allied forces after Napoleon's first surrender. Many of the Belgian soldiers would have been part of the French Army the year before.
Revolutionary France expanded a great deal and took over much of the former Austrian Netherlands in 1795. The inhabitants would have been French Citizens for 20 years before they became Belgian.
Certainly the rise of Nationalism was an important force in defeating Napoleon.

A better example would be the Battle of the Nations or Battle of Leipzig (1813) which reflected a more national nature of the Armies involved.
There is an enormous Memorial at Leipzig commemorating that battle.
