The principal regulation of water and electrolyte balance in the human body is performed by the Kidneys that serve to filter out waste products from the blood and excrete urine

The Kidneys are filtering organs through which blood circulates. The Kidney cells filter out waste products along with salt - Sodium and Calcium - and Water. The filtered out waste is directed to the urinary bladder while excess excreted sodium, potassium and water are reabsorbed by the kidney to maintain the electrolyte balance of the blood.
