Let the height of tower be h m.and the distance of first position from the foot of tower be x m.So the distance of 2nd position from the foot of tbe tower will be (x-32) m.

Your correction is cotangent in place of tangent for the 2nd position and 2/5 in place of 2/3 as per book (S.L. Loney)

Hence

For 1st position

x/h=cot("angle of elevation-1")=3/5.....(1)

For 2nd position

(x-32)/h=cot("angle of elevation-2")=2/5..(2)

subtracting (2) from (1) we can write

x/h-(x-32)/h=3/5-2/5

32/h=1/5

:.h=32xx5=160m
