WE use VSEPR to predict geometry of main group compounds.

We have #H_3C-Be-CH_3#. Around the central beryllium atom there are 2 regions of electron density, 2 electron pairs which constitute the #C-Be# bonds.

The most stable arrangement is linear. Of course, in a condensed phase, anything could happen. That beryllium compounds are highly poisonous has probably discouraged research.
