Plant and animal cells have different adaptations to water.

Animal cells are used to being in a solution that has the same amount of solutes (the thing that is dissolved in a solution).

The ideal environment for a plant cell is hypotonic (more solutes outside than inside). That is why plant cells have cell walls, which makes plants more rigid and able to withstand harsher outside conditions.
