Radioactive elements emit radioactive emissions which contain alpha and beta emissions in which particles Helium Nuclei and Electrons respectively are emitted.

After such particle emissions, the nucleus which is in an excited state tends to transition to lower energy states and hence finally to the ground state. In doing so, there is emission of EM radiation in form of gamma-rays and are such emissions are called gamma emissions.

Radioactive elements such as, Uranium, Polonium and Radium are such elements which undergo spontaneous radioactive emissions.
