"I wish she had more curves"


This is the subjunctive mood used to express a condition which does not actually exist.

The verb "to be" is irregular and you simply need to know which version to use in this case. For most regular verbs, the subjunctive has the same form as the past tense.

A couple of other examples of the subjunctive mood:

  • If I were a rich man, I would....
  • Would you love me if I were rich instead of just good looking?
