It is a landmark in the history of the Civil Rights

Explanation:

The 1954 brown versus board of education decision officially declared segregation unconstitutional.

It did not abolish segregation because the executive did not enforce, only the 1964 Civil Rights Act would really put an end to segregation.

Brown versus the Board of Education helped blacks by ending the unfair separate but equal separated schools in the South.

Explanation:

Based on the supreme court decision of 1954 Republican president Dwight Eisenhower sent Federal troops to Little Rock Arkansas to enforce the desegregation of the school system there. Following the successful forced desegregation at Little Rock schools all over the school were forced to open their doors to black students.

Before Brown versus The Board of Education black students were forced to attend inferior schools. The separate black schools often used textbooks that had been discarded by the better funded white schools. Science labs were almost non existent in the black schools. Teachers in the white schools were better paid and had better access to training and education themselves.

After Brown versus education schools districts were forced to allow blacks students to attend the same schools as white students. The handicap of attending inferior schools was eased for black students.

This supreme court decision coupled with the support of the Federal government helped the black population, primarily students. It was a beginning for ensuring equal rights within America.
