The ocean has a much higher density than the earth's atmosphere.

The density of salt water is a little higher than the density of pure water, which has a density of 1 gram/ ml .
The density of water as a gas is 18 grams/ 22.4 liters or
18 grams/ 224000. as a comparison.
The atmosphere is mainly Nitrogen gas ( approximately 80%) which has a density of 28 grams/ 224000 ml.
The Ocean has a density of 5 orders of magnitude greater than the atmosphere.
