The “climate zones” of the earth are Polar, Temperate and Tropical. Many subdivisions have been defined by various organizations to help specific air conditioning systems in particular regions.

The solar radiation is the highest in the tropical zones and the lowest in the polar zones. It varies within each zone with the variable tilt of the earth in its orbit and generally decreases as one moves from the equatorial regions to the polar ones.
