Well there is a 6-fold axis of symmetry on the benzene molecule......


Chemically equivalent groups can be exchanged by an axis of proper rotation. There is a 6-fold axis of symmetry normal to the plane of the carbocycle, and this serves to exchange the #CH# groups.
