The similarities are that both are boundaries which mark the line between two tectonic plates.

Explanation:

The divergent boundary marks the line where two tectonic plates diverge and separate. The two plates move apart in opposite directions.

The convergent boundary marks the line where two tectonic plates come together or collide. The plates are moving towards each other. This results either in buckling causing mountains or in a subduction zone where one plate dives under and the other is lifted up.

The similarities are that a boundary of any kind marks the line between two tectonic plates.

Similarities between divergent and convergent boundaries include magma or lava flows, formation of new topographic features and re-shaping of landmasses.

Explanation:

Divergent boundaries occur where landmasses are moving apart, and usually the formation of valleys is the result. Convergent boundaries have two landmasses running up against each other, often resulting in spectacular mountains. In both cases, the topology of the region is changed dramatically.

Along these two boundaries, volcanic activity will be prevalent, as the dis-connect at the boundary permits the flow of magma from the earth's mantle to escape to become lava flows on the earth's surface.

As the result of the movement at these two types of boundary, existing landmasses may be altered or consumed as the heat of the earths interior re-invents our world.
