Why should we wear goggles in lab? They're so uncomfortable, and they keep fogging up!! Give me one reason why...

Well, I suppose I can think of five...

  1. So you don't get chemicals in your eyes!
  2. So you don't get chemicals in your eyes!
  3. So you don't get chemicals in your eyes!
  4. So you don't get chemicals in your eyes!
  5. So you don't get chemicals in your eyes!

Z87 goggles are pretty standard-fare. Any good university should sell you goggles for #$5-20#, if I remember correctly. They MUST cover your eyes completely (no gaps!), or they're not good enough. Don't go for style, go for safety (and style).

Other important reasons:

  • So the lab supervisor doesn't catch you and ask the TA to dock points off your lab report.
  • You should have already signed and turned in a CONTRACT saying you would! See your lab manual for a copy of the contract.
  • Everyone in the lab has that obligation and is bound by contract. Why should you or anyone else be the exception?
