Outside of biological function and the tactile senses, human interests and preferences can be formed by an almost unlimited array of experiences. We can note that some people have a preference for intimate relationships with same-gender people.

But, whether that has a driving force in anything sexual or is the physical accommodation of primarily psychological factors is not clear. The plethora of expressions of non-heterosexual physical and emotional intimacy would tend to suggest a more psychological basis for such desires than a biologically sexist one.
