It is not better. In fact, the proper balance of proteins is more readily available in meat sources than in plant sources.

Explanation:

A balanced diet is most important. Problems occur when people eat too much of anything.

Food is a matter of personal preferences: so one may like to get dietary protein from only plant source but it must be noted that proteins from animal sources are regarded as 'complete' and of first class grade.

This is because animal proteins can supply all essential amino acids. Egg is the best natural source of protein with bioavailability index of 100: best plant protein soy on the other hand has an index of less than 60 (amazingly rice has a better index but it can supply miniscule amount of protein in diet).

Now, when people tend to consume more of animal protein in the form of mutton/beef (=red meat), there could be a risk of increase in cholesterol level of blood.

On the other hand, people taking only plant based protein, must consume a variety of nuts and pulses so that there is no defficiency of essential amino acids in their diet.

Evolutionarily, we are omnivorous animal: hence it is better to include proteins from both plant and animal sources.
