The lowest common multiple of #a# and #b# can be calculated as:

#lcm(a,b)=(axxb)/(gcd(a,b))#

From this formula we see that the greatest common multiple is a quotient of the numbers' product and their greatest conmmon divisor.

In our example one of the numbers #43# is prome, so their common divisor is 1. Therfore the multiple is equal to their product:

#lcm(4,43)=4xx43=172#
