During sucking of blood, the mosquito draws in gametocytes of the causing organism, Plasmodium. The parasite sits inside RBCs of human. Inside body of mosquito, sexual reproduction of malarial parasite takes place and after multiplication sporozoites accumulate in salivary glands. From here the parasites are injected in human blood through mosquito bite.

Asexual multiplication of the parasite takes place in human body: particularly in liver and blood. Gametocytes also appear in blood, ready to enter body of mosquito for completing the life cycle .
